Veer Jharkhand Vikas Seva Manch implemented impactful Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) programs across 14 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) in the Chatra and Ramgarh districts of Jharkhand, with generous support from the Linde Foundation and Arohan (Aavishkaar Group). These projects aimed to educate over 4,000 adolescent girls about menstrual health, reduce stigma, and ensure access to safe sanitary practices. Key components included awareness sessions, distribution of sanitary pads, installation of vending machines and incinerators, and training for school staff. The initiative significantly improved hygiene, reduced school absenteeism, and empowered girls to manage menstruation with confidence and dignity—contributing to gender equality and better educational outcomes in rural schools.
With the support of the Global Greengrants Fund, Veer Jharkhand Vikas Seva Manch implemented an environmental conservation and awareness project across 20 villages in Koderma and Jainagar block. This initiative focused on sensitizing local communities to the effects of pollution from nearby thermal power stations and promoting sustainable ecological practices. Activities included street plays, training for PRI members on environmental laws, promotion of homestead horticulture among 200 families, and health impact awareness. Community groups led by youth and women were formed to sustain the efforts, bridging the gap between citizens and government departments to improve grassroots environmental governance.
In partnership with the Jiv Daya Foundation, VJVSM launched the Rahat Support project to combat rural hunger and malnutrition in three remote villages of Koderma district. Emergency food relief consisting of 50 kg of rice per household was provided to 115 marginalized families, especially tribals and landless workers affected by post-pandemic poverty. Additionally, 155 children aged 6 months to 5 years received regular milk through local Anganwadi centers to support early childhood nutrition. Uniforms and shoes were also distributed to 150 children, enhancing school participation and well-being. The project combined food security with dignity, transparency, and nutritional equity.
With the valuable support of NABARD, Veer Jharkhand Vikas Seva Manch has actively promoted organic farming practices among rural communities to enhance sustainable agriculture and improve livelihoods. The initiative focused on training farmers in eco-friendly cultivation techniques, natural composting, and soil health management. As part of the program, quality organic seeds were distributed to participants, and regular field-level monitoring and guidance were provided to ensure successful adoption. This initiative empowered farmers to reduce their dependency on chemical inputs, lower cultivation costs, and increase the productivity of their land while preserving environmental balance.
With the support of the Government of Jharkhand, Veer Jharkhand Vikas Seva Manch has been conducting impactful nukkad nataks (street plays) across various rural villages to raise awareness about government welfare schemes and citizen entitlements. These plays, performed in local dialects by trained community artists, cover vital topics such as ration cards, pensions, housing schemes, MGNREGA, Ayushman Bharat, and labor card benefits. The initiative uses interactive storytelling to engage villagers—especially women, youth, and the elderly—and ensure they are informed about their rights and how to access available government services. This creative outreach has proven effective in empowering communities and bridging the information gap at the grassroots level.
Veer Jharkhand Vikas Seva Manch is empowering rural women in two blocks of Koderma district through comprehensive skill‑based tailoring training. The program equips participants with essential sewing, cutting, and stitching skills, enabling them to create garments and home textiles. Trained women receive hands‑on mentorship, start‑up toolkits, and guidance to set up micro-enterprises or home-based tailoring units. By fostering technical ability, confidence, and entrepreneurial spirit, this initiative paves the way for sustained economic independence. Our aim is to nurture skilled, self‑reliant women who drive positive change in their communities.
